some insights about my motorcycle gear
do you wanna know about my favourite equipment ?
i am not dogmatic – i can change my mind over the time, just let me known in the comments your own experience and recommandations.
my motorcycle
Yamaha MT-10 2019 named “Simran”
MT stands for master of torque. The engine is a 4 cylinder ‘CP4’ crossplane engine which delivers 160 hp, and yes the torque is at the maximum at every level.
Beside the specs, the bike is very sharp and efficient to drive, even on the highway or small mountain roads and even on forest tracks it does the trick !
I choosed the Pirelli Angel GT2 tires because they are strong enough for long distance and safe enough to stick to the road even on heavy rain or in the snow.
In addition I mounted the following items to make it more confortable for adventure riding:

luggage
Tank bag:

this bag is simple, affordable and also very easy to lock/release thanks to the fixation ring mounted directly on the tank.
the transparent slit is very useful to keep an eye on the road book or a paper map while driving.
the bag can be extended from 5l to 9l and have enough space to fit a drone and action camera and a small bottle of water.
Tail bag:
SW-MOTECH ION M ref: BC.HTA.00.202.10000
this tail bag fits on any motorcycle rear seat or rear carrier; the capacity can be extended from 26l to 36l and is shipped with a waterproof bag to keep your clothes and electronics dry.
the two side pockets can hold small stuffs and can therefore be easily accessed.
this bag is secured by 4 nylon strips and it makes it easily installable on any motorcycle.
saddlebag:
SW-MOTECH PRO BLAZE H set ref: BC.HTA.06.740.31300
this saddlebag set is probably the best on the market; first the bags can be very easily attached/removed, and then the fixing bar is also removable… for those who only use the saddlebags on roadtrips this is definitely a plus !
the capacity can be extended from 30l to 40l and they are shipped with waterproof bags.
I specially appreciate the smart zip configuration that allows you securing your bag with a simple padlock.
drybag:

this dry bag is very useful and large enough to store all my camping gear;
i fix it on the rear seat with 4 nylon strips.
this bag is simple, strong and very cost effective.
Multimedia
action cam:
DRIFT Ghost 4K + along with the long life battery 1500a.
this camera is surely not the best on the market but it has a big plus regarding its competitors: the battery last long enough for me (filming at 1080 HD gets between 3 and 4 hours).
another advantage is that the camera can be release while driving with one hand and the control buttons are large so I can keep my gloves on while operating.
I also keep using my old action cam – the DRIFT Ghost XL – and I appreciate the even longer battery life time.
drone
DJI Mavic Mini
this drone is just awesome ! it takes no place (weight 250gr) , it is very easy to fly even in the mountain with strong wind.
the air time is about 15-20min with one battery (it strongly varies depending of weather conditions)
I bought a second battery to get more autonomy.
the application to fly the drone is very efficient and simple to use and it comes with several cinematic shooting sequences that are just impressive.
bluetooth audio set
CARDO Freecom 2+
this audio kit has a lot of issue and I won’t recommend it.
I could not even update the firmware to try to fix those problems (ie using the voice commands)
But at least the battery keep up the whole day and can be recharged in no time; the audio quality is good enough.
you understand this bit will be replaced in the near future; but in the meantime I need my music while riding my adventures !
computer
Apple Mac Book M1 2020
this 13″ notebook is a weapon of choice ! it is powerful enough my on the road video editing and the battery last hours and hours.
I am also using the LaCie DJI Fly Drive (2 Tb) external hard drive with micro-sd card reader; this external harddisk is wrapped in a removable protective bumper ideal for on the field operations.
